Drew Pearlman

Functional Medicine Practitioner

My name is Drew Pearlman and I am a Functional Medicine Practitioner. I trained at the world-renowned School of Applied Functional Medicine for many years and also received certification from the Gut and Psychology Syndrome Practitioner program (GAPS) and the Heart Math Practitioner program.

In my work with clients, I take a holistic approach by diving into the various layers of health, including nutrition, movement, breathing, sleep, stress, connection with nature as well as mindset, beliefs and life purpose. I utilize a detailed health history, symptoms questionnaire, recent lab work and personal health goals and work with you to design a plan that is unique to you.  My philosophy is to address both the foundational components of wellness such as diet and lifestyle, plus the more specific biochemical drivers of dis-ease such as nutritional deficiencies, imbalances in the gut, and toxicity.

In my eyes, functional medicine is both a science and an art.  My job as a practitioner is to educate, empower and hopefully inspire my clients. In the words of Albert Schweitzer: “We are at our best when we give the doctor who resides within each patient a chance to go to work.”

In addition to functional medicine, I’ve made a series of documentary films about natural healing and host the new podcast The Drew Pearlman Show.

My areas of expertise include gut health, autoimmune issues, anxiety/ depression, cancer support, weight loss, headaches and more.

I’ve studied and trained at the School of Applied Functional Medicine and received further certification from the Gut and Psychology Syndrome Practitioner Program (GAPS) and the HeartMath Practitioner Program.

I’m looking forward to sharing my passion with our community by educating and empowering patients and clients with diet, lifestyle and functional medicine principles and tools to achieve greater wellness.

For fun, I love to spend as much time as possible outdoors in nature, soaking in the sun, hiking, swimming, and even playing in the snow.

What guided my path to wellness is an unquenchable thirst to heal my own health challenges as well as health issues in my family, and I have been on this path of discovery since I was in my teens.

What guided your path to wellness?
At age 32, with a newborn and 3 year old son, my health was declining, and I had many symptoms ranging from inflammation in my joints to optic neuritis and being told that I “may have” lupus.  Many months and medications later, I went to see a doctorl to try a more holistic approach.  With some changes to my nutrition/supplementation, I was symptom free in just a month.  That was the point where I realised the importance of what we eat and how we feel, and I wanted to learn more and be able to coach others who may be in similar situations.

For fun I love to:  Run, try new restaurants with my husband and spend time with my boys whether on a lacrosse field, skiing or just hanging out at home.  My favorite get away is going to the Cape with family and friends.

What guided my path to wellness?

I find while prevention is a key driver behind my path, it has a somewhat negative undertone.  Instead, I opt for the usage of “promotion” and use that word to guide my path. Eating a more sustainable, plant-forward plate; moving daily for fun, joy, and bone density; practicing kindness toward others and me; as well as, aligning my work/collaborations with programs that support these endeavors are all a part of my path.

She finished her 200hr teacher training in 2016 at Metrowest Yoga and is an ERYT. Gina continues to grow as a student and expand her knowledge of yoga through workshops, classes, and a deep somatic home practice. It was through a consistent and compassionate practice she was able to understand and accept her empath trait and is excited to help other empath hearts navigated through their own healing.  Her deepest intention is to open hearts, evoke growth and acceptance, and to provide guidance to others as they journey into self-discovery and inner peace. Gina believes there are immense healing powers within yoga and meditation and is dedicated to sharing and inspiring others to live in their truth, and from their hearts.
